The computer must be running Windows XP (no other OS is supported) and be equipped with a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port.The Mini Recorder does not make your camcorder a USB webcam – life is not quite that easy.
Otherwise, the computer may not operate properly.
Make sure that camcorder and computer are not connected with a DV cable before connecting the camcorder to the computer using the USB cable.
Connect the camcorder to the computer using the USB cable.
When using the analog-digital converter, make sure that "AV DV" is displayed. When transferring video recordings from/to a tape, make sure that "AV DV" is not displayed.
Connect the power adapter to the camcorder.
Install the Canon USB Video Driver supplied with the DV Network Software.
You can also convert analog signals to digital signals and transfer them to a computer running Windows XP with a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port. Use a video editing software to transfer video recordings from the tape to the computer, edit them and upload them from the computer to the tape.
Refer also to the instruction manual of the computer.
We recommend powering the camcorder from a household power source while it is connected to the computer.
Before connecting the camcorder to the computer using a DV cable, make sure that camcorder and computer are not connected with a USB cable, and that no other 1394 device is connected to the computer.
If the problem persists, disconnect the interface cable, turn off camcorder and computer, turn camcorder and computer back on and reconnect them.
If the computer freezes while you have connected the camcorder, disconnect and reconnect the DV cable.
Operation may not work correctly depending on the software and the specifications/settings of your computer.
New with the Optura 500, you can also transfer video using a USB cable.
